In 1902 in St. Petersburg, Russia, loner scientist Anton Kerzhentsevi studies primates. He's attracted to Tatyana, his friend Alexis' wife. As Anton slowly goes mad, he starts planning on how to kill his friend and get away with it.

A fugitive girl, a stuntman and a young man who lost his dog quite some time before, are joining together on a trip to reach each of their own destination. A youngster gets emotionally connected to the girl, and he'd try to help her to leave the bossy stuntman, to get false passport and escape to Paris.

Živka, a kitchen helper at a restaurant where visiting sports teams eat, is in love with basketball star Mensur. Late at night, on a deserted street, the two meet by chance and he spends the night with her in a dormitory.
