Kumar, a thief by profession poses as the son of Raja Bahadur Singh to accept an invitation to the island of Sir John Locksley. The guests include K.P.W. Iyengar aka Romeo, Dr. Dubari, Colonel Columbus, and Countess Sylvia Rasmussen. A stunned Kumar finds out that all of these invitees are master criminals. Kumar's guise does not fool anyone, nevertheless Sir John permits him to stay on. The reason why John has invited them is to find a successor to take his place as he is dying of cancer. He feels that one of his invitees can be trusted to take his place and for this he has arranged for them to steal a ruby (Shalimar) worth 135 crores of rupees. This gem is placed in a secure room within his palace, which is alarmed, and guarded. He challenges one of them to steal the Shalimar - but if anyone fails then they are killed by the security system. Pitted against such veterans, it looks like Kumar has got himself into a bind that he may not come out of alive.

He is a russian Don Juan except that he himself doesn't seek to seduce; the women around him simply find him irresistibly attractive, and he is only too happy to go along. The play predates the realism of Chekhov's later works in its desjointedness, but many of its scenes show the seeds of brilliance that would eventually emerge.

La lettera arriva, ma le cose si complicano quando all'hotel fa la sua comparsa un sosia di Victor. Dopo la consueta ridda di equivoci e scambi di persona tutto si chiarisce. Classica pochade di Feydeau portata sullo schermo con ottimi attori.

Il professor Higgins (Rex Harrison), glottologo britannico di fama internazionale, scommette con l'amico Pickering (Wilfrid Hyde-White) di riuscire a trasformare la povera fioraia Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn) in una dama di alta classe, entro sei mesi. Dopo estenuanti tentativi ed un fallimento iniziale, all'ippodromo con tutti i signori più illustri, Eliza viene apprezzata per i modi e l'eleganza dall'alta società londinese. Concluso l'esperimento la fioraia dovrebbe tornare al suo contesto sociale, ma i cambiamenti avvenuti e l'innamoramento verso il suo mentore Higgins, fanno sì che Eliza decida di restare in casa del professore. Rifiutata da quest'ultimo fugge disperata, e solo allora Higgins si rende conto quanto ella sia diventata importante per la sua vita. Dopo un breve periodo di separazione i due torneranno finalmente a vivere assieme.

Giulio Cesare, dopo aver sconfitto Pompeo al termine di una cruenta guerra civile interviene personalmente e tramite la sua autorità destituisce Tolomeo dalla carica di faraone e nomina Cleopatra unica sovrana d'Egitto. Il rapporto tra i due è molto forte e con il passare del tempo diventa passionale. Cleopatra da a Cesare un figlio, Cesarione; ma questa situazione non è ben vista a Roma dove i senatori temono per le sorti della repubblica. Cesare difatti, vuole il potere assoluto; una volta eletto imperatore egli potrà nominare suo figlio come legittimo erede.

L'assassino arriva di notte

Actually, the philanderer is the one who put the idea in their heads to go away so the coast will be clear for his marauding raid party, with no intentions of curing anybody of anything.
