Terminata la cena, il gruppo si riunisce in un vasto salone da ricevimento per ascoltare una famosa pianista. Si fa tardi, e gli ospiti decidono di rincasare: ma ecco, quasi un'insormontabile cortina fosse calata davanti a loro, nessuno riesce più a varcare la soglia del salone. Col trascorrere delle ore, la situazione diventa intollerabile: pur intestardendosi nel voler conservare il decoro del rango e una parvenza di etichetta, pian piano i prigionieri della misteriosa "presenza" si liberano dei loro freni inibitori, rivelandosi per quello che sono: pervertiti, ipocriti, lussuriosi, violenti.
